In three sentences | Hudson County Commmunity College has a lot to offer for students who are interested in starting college. Clean facilities, state-of-the-art laboratories and computer labs, affordable tuition, and complete your general eduation courses within 2 years? That sounds like a deal for me! |
Tips for prospective students | HCCC has a lot to offer to new students. It's registration requirements are minimal but remember one important thing: aim for the best in your CLEP (College entrance exam) exam to avoid taking remedial classes. If you're coming from another institution, you can have up to 30 credits transferable to your new major as long as it meets HCCC's requirements. Whether you're fresh out of high school or starting college later in life, it's never to late to go to school. HCCC is great choice for affordable and flexiblity, since Journal Square is right next to the school, theres many routes to get to HCCC. |
Academic Rigor | For the most part, the school's grading system is fair although it varies from class to class. Some professors can be strict while others can be lenient. This doesn't mean that HCCC is a walk in the park or a get by school. It's a challenge within itself, as with any institution. That's how it should be, it will prepare you for the next institution after you graduate. |
Dorm Life | Dorm life is non existent at HCCC. Currently, there is no housing available at this time. |
Food and Dining | While there isn't a dining facility at HCCC, there are many fast food restuarants, diners, and restaurants within the area. Occassionally, the culinary art students would hold bake sales and food as well. The school does offer promotions for free food and could be checked on the school's website. |
What to do for fun | There are many activity groups at HCCC. HCCC offers pool halls, bowling trips, student discounts, museum trips, open mic karaoke/ stand-up comedy, and more. There's plenty to do while you wait for your next class. |
Bang for the buck | Did I mention that HCCC tuition rates are low? For Hudson County residents, you'd pay roughly $100 per credit and are required to only pay 25% of the total due upon registering. Financial Aid is available and so are promotions for scholarships. It's definitely a bang for your buck! |
Campus Safety | It's security is responsive for emergencies and punctual with timing. I can't say that any security gaurd isn't well dressed either. They look presentable and are willing to help a student with questions with navigating around the campus |

Am learning a lot | I am in the Culinary Program at Hudson. This was propably the best choice that i could have ever made. It is a small school with well trained chef that are still working in the buisness and teach. They really do care about the students getting better and wanting to become a great chef. It is a hidden culinary school that should be up there with CIA, ICE, and every other one. Most of the teachers come from those schools anyways. Yet the Culinary program is really just great!!! |
Bang for the buck | Saved me alot!!!!!! Didnt go to CIA or J&W but learn just as much or probably even more for like 3/4 of the price |
