Named for the founder of California’s first junior college, Hartnell College is a 2-year institution south of San José. Featuring a diverse student body, Hartnell is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution and it has been named one of the top community colleges in the United States by the NAACP. Hartnell is home to seven academic departments and its Advanced Technology programs are housed in the campus’s new Technical Training Building. In addition, Hartnell provides assistance for students experiencing difficulties in and out of the classroom with free crisis counseling services.
