Academic Rigor | I've been here since Summer 2009, and all I can say about this college is that I love it. I've taken art/dance history classes, business classes, music, oceanography classes and so much more! This college offers so many wonderful classes but most importantly I am learning so much while I have fun! The professors really care about all of their students, and because some classes are so small, you can work with them one on one. My experience has been amazing here and I am learning more at this college than in high school! |
Am enjoying being here | I love the professors here. Many of them have come from interesting and prestigious backgrounds and many of my professors, past and current, have Doctorates. It is very easy to make friends in class and people are very relaxed and helpful. |
Bang for the buck | I just did a search online and found that it costs $36 per unit to attend Fullerton College. I didn't even know this. Why, you ask? Because I don't pay for school/tuition! I qualified for the Board of Governors' Fee waiver so I am going to college for free. Pretty amazing huh? On top of that I had a high GPA in high school so I qualified for a Cal Grant, so I'm getting paid close to $3,000 TO GO TO SCHOOL. That's right. I get PAID to go to school. I have also won $1,600 in scholarships from the Fullerton College Scholarship Foundation that I didn't even end up using because I didn't need it so that money went straight to buying textbooks and other materials, i.e. art supplies, dance shoes, etc. (SIDE NOTE: Textbooks are VERY expensive. This semester I spent close to $400 on textbooks ALONE.) So make sure to apply for financial aid, scholarships, and spend the money wisely because you will need it! |
Tips for prospective students | Study hard. This college has so many opportunities for you to shine and to transfer to amazing schools, EVEN ON THE EAST COAST. Get good grades and join the Honors Program. You won't regret it. Get involved on campus and join one of the hundred clubs offered here. Don't forget to do community service and apply for alot of scholarships - there are many offered for community college students, even after graduation. Take advantage of everything on campus, including the Transfer Center, the Tutoring Center, the counselors, and the library. They are all amazing resources. Do not forget to go to all of your professor's office hours. It will do you a world of good. |
Great for these types of students | I used to think that community college is for rejects and people that didn't take school seriously, but I was blown away by the vast number of motivated and diligent students that I met. And while I won't deny I have bumped into the occasional partiers, I am still surrounded by hard-working and intelligent students that work just as hard as I do, if not more and have 4.0 GPA's. If you want to get a higher education and you can't afford it, this is the school for you, and you can be rest assured that you will find good, hard-working friends and others that love and know how to have fun! |

In three sentences | I like Fullerton College a lot, good people good times and a lot of good classes you can take to better prepare you for your future. The people there are very nice and friendly and will definitely come up to you if they want to talk to you. The teachers are very nice and helpful as well. |
Tips for prospective students | You should really consider this school if you are looking for good classes and a great opportunity to meet new friends and hangout! |
Academic Rigor | There are alot of great classes that a student can take to help prepare them to either transfer or for a good career. There is a transfer center that can help you choose the perfect college for you and they also give you an Ed plan to prepare you to transfer to that college of your choice. There are also scholarship workshops. The teachers and counselors there are very helpful and will do whatever it takes to help you succeed. |
Dorm Life | There are a lot of apartments that are down the street from the school that students live in and they are very nice. Those are technically the campus dorms but they are very close to the school so it will make it easier on the student to commute back and forth. |
Food and Dining | The cafeteria has a lot of great food but if you do not want to eat there, there is a lot of other places that is close to the school that you can go to. There is a subway across the street and a mcdonalds down the street. |
What to do for fun | There is a place downtown on harbor that is filled with cafes and shopping places that you can go hangout and it is a cool place to hang out at night. They also have clubs that you can go to. |

Am learning a lot | If you have no idea where you want to transfer, what you want to major in, or what you want to do with your life, this is the college for you! Their counselors are awesome and super helpful. They want you to succeed and move on with your college career. |
Am enjoying being here | The campus is nice and the teachers are cool. They really want you to understand the material. |
Bang for the buck | I have used so many of their resources, primarily for discovering what careers I should look into. The tutors are great and the staff is friendly. |
Tips for prospective students | Join the TAP program. Transfer Achievement Program. You get extra counseling whenever you need it, and you get to be apart of a great program on campus. |
Great for these types of students | For the kids who don't have a clue what to do after college. If you don't know what you're good at, you can take as many personality and skills tests as you want. |

Am learning a lot | You need to commit yourself to your education as much as your professors commit themselves to teaching you. There are tons of opportunities for help that its impossible NOT to learn! |
Am enjoying being here | Starting out at a community college was the best decision I ever made. Everyone has dreams and goals that it helps you push yourself even harder to succeed. Even how beautiful the buildings look make you feel like a hard working adult! Its great! |
Bang for the buck | The prices is one of the main reasons why I decided to attend Fullerton College. Its a cheaper price for the same gosh darn degree! Most people qualify for financial aid anyway so its double the help... I don't know why you would want to start out spending a hundred dollars per unit... that's crazy talk! |
Tips for prospective students | If you're not sure what you want to major in, community college is the place to start. If you have interests than go after them, take fun classes and you might be surprised how well the field pays if you choose to make it a career. Make college your own, and don't let anyone dampen your memories. |
Great for these types of students | If you're struggling financially then this is the place to go. Don't be ashamed because its, according to some people, not a real college, a community college is the same as any other education. Also if you're not sure what you want to do with your life and want to take things slow, there's no pressure here. Only people backing up your every decision. |

In three sentences | Fullerton College is overall a very clean and safe campus; dedicated to providing designated smoke-free zones to help prevent second hand smoke. They also have a very large library with access to computers, copiers, printers, and reference materials. Most of the reference materials that can be found at the library can also be accessed online. |
Tips for prospective students | Arrive early the first few weeks of class as campus parking can be difficult at the beginning of the semester. There is also free parking available on Berkeley, as well as, 2 hr. parking option along residential streets on the front side of the campus on Chapman. Fullerton College also provides 1-day parking passes in the student lots for $2. Review your professors on ratemyprofessor.com. You can also often rent or purchase some of your textbooks for cheaper at Little Professor Bookstore in Placentia. |
Academic Rigor | Due to economy, several night classes have been eliminated from Fullerton College, which can make it difficult for students that work full-time to find open classes that they need. Due to the cut backs in work force, it has reduced the amount of teachers in math making it difficult to find a great math teacher for the higher levels of math; not ideal for a student with a math major. Also, the library can be loud at times so it would be a good idea to purchase some disposable ear plugs. |
Dorm Life | No experience. |
Food and Dining | No experience. |
Clubs and Activities | No experience. |

In three sentences | A fantastic and economic education. I have been impressed by every single teacher I've had and the financial aid is more than helpful with such low costs for in-state students. The people and systems have also been very friendly about my many questions. |
Tips for prospective students | Do it! Go, even just to get as many classes done in two years as you can before transferring. FC has a TAG agreement with most of the UCs in the state, so you've actually got a better chance of transferring to the school you want if you keep a strong GPA. The great teachers and the amount of money you save doesn't hurt either! |
Academic Rigor | I'm kind of a difficult judge of this - my high school was above average and I was often above average there, so college in general is pretty easy - but I've felt the academics here were rigorous enough to keep me semi-busy and stress many of my classmates. |
Dorm Life | No dorms, I'm afraid, but there are cheap apartments and flatshares all over. |
Food and Dining | I love the chicken strips from the dining hall grill! There's plenty of variety in those little restaurants for any craving and there's a smaller, but just as nice, cafe on the other end of campus. The food off-campus is great, too - just wander downtown Fullerton. |
What to do for fun | The same as anywhere else I imagine. There are clubs and societies, for those interested; there are malls and shopping centers all over with plenty of gyms, clubs, and community centers besides. If you want to do it, you can probably find it in Orange County. |
Bang for the buck | Fantastic! I really can't say anything bad about this school because it's been a godsend. I love it! |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Hmm. Well, there's some construction going on right now which makes for plenty of odd hidey holes, but otherwise nothing too unusual. |
Great for these types of students | Any type. I'm an overachiever and I'm happy, my not-as-education-fond friends are also pretty happy. Fullerton College is the sort of place where a lot of people are building or rebuilding themselves and trying to make a life they can enjoy. |
Clubs and Activities | Tons of them, everywhere. There's usually monthly fairs in the Quad where the cosmetology department has a discount day out in the sun and the booths for different clubs and causes go up, and someone blasts terrible pop music. There are honors societies and ethnic clubs and volunteer clubs and music clubs and sports for anyone and everyone. |
Greek Life | Nope. Junior college is a little too junior, unless the honors societies count? Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Gamma Sigma are both very active on campus. |
Campus Safety | I've always felt pretty safe on campus. Even wandering in back alleys and alone on the ledges of high buildings as I'm wont to, I've never had trouble. The campus police are always zooming around. |

In three sentences | Fullerton College is a beautiful campus, small and full of history. They are committed to student success. The professors and education are high quality. |
Tips for prospective students | Visit the transfer center early in your time there and visit often, they will help ensure you meet your goal, if transfer is indeed your goal. Visit your professors during office hours, they want you to be successful and can become valuable assets as mentors who may provide you with letters of recommendation needed for graduate school or jobs. Get involved in a club, service learning, honors societies, honors programs, sports, or academic success programs. Use your resources - there are many on campus. |
Academic Rigor | I think this will vary from major to major. The teachers do expect you to learn, and you get 16 weeks. Semesters are awesome, I miss semesters.... |
Food and Dining | I particularly enjoyed the grill, I loved their grilled cheese sandwiches. Jamba Juice is on campus, there is pizza, salads, deli sandwiches, pasta and tacos. |
What to do for fun | Clubs, sports, the football team is pretty good. Go see the theater performances. There are events in the quad pretty often. |
Bang for the buck | Seriously, if you're going to community college chances are you have other responsibilities. This place is an awesome choice to kick start your college education and transition you into college. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | They have a phenomenal Dia de los Muertos event which is not really unusual but great! There is a free speech area, every campus is required to have one, and some PRETTY INTERESTING folks have stood on their soap boxes there. |

Bang for the buck | i've paid such a reasonable amount for the schooling i have gotten. you get a great education for more than half the price of a 4 year institution. i would seriously recommend fullerton college if you aren't dead set on your major or what school you want to go to. you get the same g.e. classes for 1/4 of the price. |
Great for these types of students | students who aren't completely sure of what school they want to attend or what major they want to be. 95% of students change their mind in college of what they want to do. this gives you a financially friendly education while you get to experience what works for you or not. |
