In three sentences | Dalton State College is a financially affordable college with great majors to choose from. This college is growing into a two-year school to a four-year school with more and more degrees to choose from. I would give Dalton State an 8 out of 10. |
Tips for prospective students | My tip for prospective students is to use the resources on campus as much as you can. The staff here will help you any time you need help, which gives you no reason to make a great grade in your courses. Every teacher here wants to help you succeed, which is what has made my experience here a valuable one. |
Academic Rigor | Many people I talked to in High School about what college to attend said negative things about Dalton State, which made me think twice about coming here. This is a very tough school and teachers do not just hand out grades. The programs here are very tough and get you well prepared for your future career. You must make good grades and achieve high scores on entrance exams to be accepted into Dalton States programs. They only want top students who they know will study hard and succeed in the program to achieve a rewarding career. If you are looking for a college to breeze through, Dalton State is not the place for you. |
Dorm Life | Dalton State recently opened up dorms for their students. The dorms here on campus are old apartment complexes, which I have heard are actually very nice. There are not many, so you must register for a room early. With more and more athletics and out of town students coming to college here, more dorms will be coming to campus within the next two years. |
Food and Dining | The food here at Dalton State is very good. The cafeteria is called the Roadrunner Cafe. We get our food from the Oakwood Cafe, which is an excellent restaurant in downtown Dalton. The prices are also reasonable, which is good for a broke college student! We do not have seats in the cafeteria to eat, but many students sit outside at the tables when the weather is nice, or sit inside in the pope student center, where the cafeteria is located. There are tables to sit at and even couches. |
What to do for fun | Although the city of Dalton does not have many fun things to do, there are always activities to be involved in at Dalton State. During the summer, we take trips to the Ocoee River to go river rafting. We also take trips to Ruby Falls and Rock City in Chattanooga, Tn. There are always fun trips going on and you can go for a very cheap price! My favorite thing to be apart of are the FREE yoga classes on campus. We are offered many free workout sessions which are always a fun way to meet new people and become involved. |
Bang for the buck | Dalton State College is known for being one of the cheapest colleges in the country. You are offered financial aid which makes it even more affordable. I feel like I am getting the best bank for the buck. I am involved in a great school that is getting me well prepared for my career for a very cheap price! What more can a broke college student ask for? |
Clubs and Activities | Dalton State has recently started a couple of sororities, which many people have become interested in. Each program of study here has there own club, which is a great way to meet new people in the field you are studying. |
Campus Safety | Everywhere you go on campus are cops patrolling, which makes me feel safe. Safety has always been a big concern for me from all the recent school shootings. Its nice to know we are being so well watched over by the campus safety. |

In three sentences | The teachers are great and actually do one on one unlike other colleges I heard. My teachers always make jokes and know how to teach difficult things. Overall the staff and students are amazing. |
Academic Rigor | The education is amazing. The staff will make time for their student for one on one. If you are having trouble with any studies they also have tutoring and if it's an essay the staff make time to help you out. The staff is also well organize, but one thing I love about attending this school is how different each staff and student are. Even if we forget their names just describe how they are and we know which one you are talking about. |
Dorm Life | I don't live in a dorm but I have a friend that lives in one and she loves it. I know they offer event for those who live in dorms to feel more welcome which I think is awesome! |
Food and Dining | Food varies for all types of people. They offer healthy foods for those who like to watch what they eat which is great. They also offer good food that isn't horrible like typical school lunches. They even have snacks like fruit bowls which I love! Coffee is also delicious. I love the food. |

In three sentences | At first all the paperwork was very confusing when dealing with the office. However, after that the classes were amazing and the teachers were awesome. I recommend this college to anyone who is looking for a small town feel with small, personable class sizes |
Tips for prospective students | Make sure you are one step ahead of the admissions and financial aid offices, and always keep a copy of your papers, whether you think they important or not. |
Academic Rigor | The classes are rather difficult, but the teachers will do anything to help you out. Well, besides give you the answers to test questions. They really care about your future. |
Dorm Life | I did not live in a dorm, but I heard they were not too bad. |
Food and Dining | I did not partake in their meal plan since I was a commuter, but the dining hall seemed nice as I passed by. |
What to do for fun | There are tons of things to do around Dalton, but I did not go to that campus, I attended the Gilmer Campus, and the same goes for there. The only thing that makes it fun though, is if you get out there and make it. |
Bang for the buck | For the money you spend, the education at Dalton State is worth it. |
Great for these types of students | Small town, easy going people fit in well here. Not to say that city people won't fit in, there are just a lot of students from small towns attending Dalton State College. |
