Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

Utrecht is a local art supplies store close to school that has really good discounts for students and a lot of times you can get quality supplies on sale. Biggby coffee also has weekly discounts on an assortment of their drinks for people who like to drink coffee or enjoy specialty drinks. The school bookstore on campus has discounts at different times of the year for students on supplies which is helpful also.

It is a bit expensive but college isn't going up in price every year? Play it smart apply for financial aid, and many grants and scholarships, take advantage of what is out there for you and anything can become affordable in these hard times.
Ashley from Ottawa, IL
The school is expensive, but the financial advisers will work with you. The facilities are top notch and readily available to all students.

At roughly $17,000 a SEMESTER, you are expected to work hard. Even after one day of class, you will learn so much about art. After a month of attending, I have seen a visible improvement in my art.
Rachel from Troy, MI
If you put your best effort forward you will get a whole lot in return. Not only lifetime friends and mentors, but networks to the industries you desire to work in.
Nathaniel from Troy, MI
This is the Harvard of art schools. Yes, the price may be on the expensive side but it's definitely worth it in the end. Find as many scholarships as possible , some grants, and some loans and you'll be fine. Don't stop freshman year, keep pushing for scholarships throughout your college career.
O'Shea from Southfield, MI
The school is VERY expensive. While some of their majors are very employable the scholarships are on the small side (max 10 thousand) and many students go into debt to go here.
