Did learn a lot
By attending you have a lot of learning experiences whether its in the class room or on campus. Being there i learned that no matter what problem you have there will always be someone there to help.
Did enjoy being here
I loved being there and i plan on returning back soon. nice people to be around and just learn an have fun with. and there is always activities to do while staying on campus so you will have no problem being bored.
Bang for the buck
indeed you do get more bang for your buck. good food, nice housing, good teachers, many sports, and many school programs to get involved in.
Tips for prospective students
tip one- work hard on your school work as soon as possible can if you miss one day it will feel like you missed a week in your work.
tip two- make a good but reasonable time schedule and actually follow it so u wont fall behind.
tip three- always do your homework soon as you get it assigned to you so you can have the rest of the days to recheck your work.
Great for these types of students
make good friends, be more school oriented, stay focused

Be self aware and push yourself to get things done. There are a few good councilors but you should know what you want to do and get it done. There are a ton of programs available to help you get out and get integrated into the university culture and even overseas!
Tips for prospective students
You need to know what you want, what you need to get there and keep your head straight. Don't expect some one to hand you a schedule and say OK, keep up with this and your done in four years, that's not gonna work here. DO keep yourself involved because the staff always wants to be involved with you, your life and your success.
Try to make sure that you don't just go with a general major because then you will just get lost in the crowd. DO take as many internships, exchange programs, honors programs and anything else that interests you as possible, because there is no much going on unless you want to drive out to West Chester University.
Academic Rigor
It really depends on the teachers and the students. Many teachers will work with a class that seems like it needs more help. Small class sizes mean that if all 15 students cant figure something out, you are OK to keep working on that subject and get it right. BUT< say your that one student who gets it, the teacher see that too and can give you more to do, or even recommend you for honors classes.
If you get into a class that wants to push, you can cover up 8 or 9 chapters in one class (and I am in the sciences!), so it can be rigorous, you just need to have the right attitude for this type of school. No one will hand you anything. They will help, but you need to ask.
Dorm Life
I did not live in the dorms, but I have been in the new dorms which are very nice, and I have seen that they are planning on taking out the old dorms to add even more new dorms :)
Food and Dining
The food in the dining hall is actually quite good, but the hours are crazy. I have classes for most of the time frame that they give us to eat, so I have to book in and try to eat an shove food into my bag *which is a college no no* or else I don't get to eat, because I have classes scheduled for dinner hour. BUT they have an amazing food bar that's separate, but its just not open long enough. There is a wawa about ten miles away, but you have to go through rural neighbor hoods to get there and its all up hill.
What to do for fun
The university is very active. We have a lot of fun activities on campus, and a lot of clubs, but you need to get involved. There are quads where you can cook outside and some nice tables to eat outside, I heard there was going to be a bowling alley so that would be nice. Other wise commons has some tennis top tables and i think a tv. Other then that there is WIFI every where and a track and a wieght room. You can drive out to West Chester to go out if you need to.
Bang for the buck
There is so much you can do at Cheyney University if you just give it a chance. Its not perfect, but neither are we as students. You can go over seas, you can work down the road, you can work in the labs here! There are so many options for things to do, experiences to have and real life to live at Cheyney. You wont see a lot of students coming out of Cheyney who have never worked hard before.
Great for these types of students
Pushers, people who already know what they want. People who are strapped for cash (because they are pretty cheap). People who like quiet campuses, any one who likes aquaculture and aquaponics.
Clubs and Activities
There are many greek chapters, honors societies and even just plain old clubs. Last year we had a K-pop presentation, and we have had many job fairs and some veterinary colleges come to talk to us.
Campus Safety
Cheyney University has a real police force on campus. They are friendly and helpful. They seem to actually care about the students instead of being worried about what the students are going to do to the university. The parking is very vast and they are very lax on the whole parking pass thing. Just don't park where the teachers park and your safe.

I started band camp there and the welcoming was great.
The new dorm I am assigned to is beautiful.
Tips for prospective students
Come and be who YOU are.
Come as a leader, not a follower.
Participate in extracurriculum activities, it helps breaking the ice as a new student.
Come prepared ready and give it all you got.
Come with a positive attitude, smile.
Academic Rigor
I haven't actually started any classes yet. I have been at Cheyney for 2 weeks now for band camp and I am really enjoying the college life. I really had no idea what to expect but I am enjoying my time so far.
Dorm Life
I was blessed to room with a junior during my band camp weeks. We got along very well. I was a little nervous about that because I never had to share a room with anyone before. We actually clicked and got along very well. However, I am now in a different dorm and have a new roommate. Dorm life is great so far. I love the independence. I feel like a grown-up now and ready to take on my responsibilities. I highly recommend residing in a dorm as a freshman.
Food and Dining
Food has been good. No complaints so far. There are a variety of foods you can choose from.
What to do for fun
My first 2 weeks I tried out to be apart of the band (color guard) and made the team. It's been a very intense practice but was well worth it. I have had fun during my practices and performing for the new students (freshman). Well, in my room...I am just either watching tv, on the computer or laughing and talking with my roommate and friends.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Haven't had any bad experiences and hope to never have any.
Clubs and Activities
I am now apart of the band as a color guard. Alot of fun!!!! Highly recommended.
Greek Life
Hopefully, one day I will join a sorority. That is my ultimate goal.
Campus Safety
Appears to be very safe. I haven't heard or seen any incidents thus far.
