Students studying

Nuclear Engineering

As science continues to advance at such a rapid pace, we need more people who are understand the most basic components of our planet - elements. Students majoring in nuclear engineering work to do exactly that and employ their knowledge of scientific and mathematical principles to find solutions to some of the world's biggest problems. Students learn to control and manipulate nuclear energy, and those who love science and physics tend to be particularly interested in this field. Nuclear engineering majors take classes that focus on science, math, material mechanics, direct energy conversion, and other courses specific to their field of study. The workload is intense, but can lead to a fascinating career with plenty of potential. Students who graduate with a nuclear engineering degree have many career options. Some work in healthcare, determining how to destroy cancer cells; others focus on creating or managing nuclear fuels. A bachelor's degree is typically the minimum requirement for a job, and many students go on to obtain a master's degree or doctorate.
