Nebraska is nicknamed the “Cornhusker State” and its official soft drink is Kool-Aid, an homage to Edwin Perkins who created the beverage in 1927 in Hastings, NE. This state experiences hot summers, cold winters, and is located in Tornado Alley. The University of Nebraska system has three campuses and assorted specialized facilities, while the Nebraska State College System has three public colleges. Outside of those two systems, there are 16 colleges in Nebraska, many clustered around Omaha. Peru State College is the oldest institution, and York College is the most selective.
Food processing, machinery, electric equipment, and printing and publishing are among the top industries in Nebraska, but many are a direct result of the high agricultural output. The Indian Cave State Park, Carhenge, and the Strategic Air and Space Museum are top attractions.
