Colleges in San Diego

The city of San Diego in California is the second-largest city in the state and the economic center of the region. Primarily focusing on military and defense-related activities, San Diego is also known for manufacturing, international trade, and the up-and-coming biotechnology sector, largely in part to the University of California in San Diego and the UCSD Medical Center.

With one of the highest-ranking educated populouses, the city is home to a number of institutions, including several public options, such as San Diego State University, and the San Diego Community College District, and UCSD, which is also home to the only school of medicine in the city. There are four law schools in San Diego, three of which are accredited by the ABA, California Western School of Law, Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and the University of San Diego School of Law. The city is home, primarily, to private colleges and universities, including Point Loma Nazarene University, John Paul the Great Catholic University, San Diego Christian College, and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, as well as many others.

While the city has planned expansions for public transport, including extending that range of the trolleys, most residents own and use vehicles as their primary mode of transportation. The San Diego International Airport, located in San Diego Bay, is the busiest single-runway airport in the US.
